Quantitative Geology of Late Jurassic Epicontinental Sediments in the Jura Mountains of Switzerland

The booklet summarizes approximately forty years of the author’s study on sedimentary geology in an epicontinental (shelf) sea in the course of the past due Jurassic in northern Switzerland. It provides a synopsis of the interaction of various paleoclimate, of sea point adaptations, of various water intensity, of sea ground topography, of vertical and lateral facies alterations, of methods of sedimentation like aggradation and progradation, of compaction, of the nice neighborhood variations in charges of sedimentation and in isostatic equilibration of the lithosphere lower than load, and of concomitant synsedimentary tectonics.

The reef build-up (R) is situated on the break of the angle of the frontal slope. The reef-talus deposits (T) are accumulated in the depression existing between two coalescent lobes (L). irregular due to the fact that the detritus of the reefs are preferentially accumulated in the depressions of the foundations (Fig. 4 ) . These depressions correspond to the areas comprised between coalescent fan-delta lobes. Reefs seem clearly morphologically adapted to the substratum constituted by the fan-delta depositional lobes.
